I think it's a great rule of thumb to shift the focus away from the overreaching consumerism of the holiday season. As your favorite book lady, I have a few gift pairing ideas to go along with our books! We also encourage "experience" gifts, like tickets to the zoo or tickets to the aquarium. Adding a book to that gift still gives the receiver something to open!
